This article explains how to remove iTunes duplicates using iTunes. This is not the best method to remove iTunes duplicates and you risk deleting the wrong file as iTunes does not use sufficient parameters to identify and show duplicate files. There is a tool which is much easier used and which allows you to quickly remove duplicates in iTunes.
Identify iTunes Duplicates and remove duplicate songs in iTunes:
When you have your iTunes window open, point to "File" and then click "Display Duplicates". You will now see your iTunes duplicate songs in your iTunes library. You can then select all duplicate tracks at once by pressing and holding the Ctrl key.
Once you have made a selection, you will be able to remove iTunes duplicates easily. Just rigth click on the selection you have made and select "Delete".
Getting rid of all iTunes duplicates automatically
You might have a large quantity of duplicate songs in iTunes or you just don't have the time to select each duplicate track and remove it. In this case, it is recommended that you use the automatic way to remove iTunes duplicates.
